Live Action Photography for Fulldome – Matt Mascheri and James Arthur
“Live Action Photography for Fulldome” is the title of the talk given by Matt Mascheri and James Arthur at the IMERSA summit 2014 in Denver.
IMERSA is an international community of professionals who create large-scale immersive digital experiences, this talk provides insights on camera and video capture solutions for live action photography and videography targeting the fulldome format.
It provides a comparison of 360 video rigs using GoPro cameras, a versatile and cost effective alternative to using Red Epic Dragon with a single fisheye for dome production.
It also features an introduction to our 360 VR video software, VideoStitch Studio, and a remapping to a fulldome master format in AfterEffects.
Stitching bring new opportunities to the fulldome community, enabling independent production of “live action” content, and offering creatives a new medium to express themselves. And with convergence of the various new technology trends, the channels for fulldome content distributions will sure extend to mobile apps and virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus of course !
