VideoStitch enables VR videos at Daytona 500
VideoStitch Studio used to create full 360° VR Video of Daytona 500, Skyvr partners with Fox Sports, Furniture row racing & Toyota
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2016) – Fox Sports has begun releasing full 360° virtual reality videos of the Daytona 500 on their Facebook and YouTube feeds. For the first time ever, NASCAR fans who are not able to make it to the racetrack were able to experience the thrills of the Daytona 500 from Daytona International Speedway in full 360° virtual reality.

We will be bringing viewers closer to the action than they have ever been before” SkyVR Producer Josh Courtney.SkyVR has partnered with Fox Sports, Furniture Row Racing and Toyota to produce the full 360° virtual reality experience with cameras positioned from the top of the Toyota hauler, corner turn 4, and in pit row.
19 shots have been delivered ranging from 2 to 5 minutes in length and have been posted in VR online within 1 hour of being shot. VideoStitch Studio was used to post-produce these shots in full 360° virtual reality, delivering 4K files to Facebook and YouTube VR platforms. The fast turnaround on the shots is made possible by the efficient workflow and GPU optimization from VideoStitch Studio. The 4-camera Blackmagic rig used (shown above) weighs less than 10lbs, enabling the filming crew to move quickly to key locations during the race to capture the best full 360° virtual reality shots. This lightweight setup proved to be much faster than any live VR rig solution and therefore allowed more flexibility at this live event.
